Connected Cheshire

Cheshire County Council was at the point of completing a network to provide broadband to all schools and associated public bodies in Cheshire.

Commendium were asked to find ways in which this network could be made available for commercial services.

Firstly, Commendium showed that their charging for schools did not recover costs and devised a new model for charging.

Secondly, Commendium established the framework by which other small companies could provide services over the network.

The most innovative element is the process to establish Connected Cheshire with Electronic Communications Code Powers. This will permit Connected Cheshire to operate as a telecoms company and let other telecoms companies use their network and ducts.
